Dr. Samadi’s special wing in Lennox Hill is like a 5-star hotel. I received VIP accommodation for every need!
The Da Vinci Robotic procedure has become the new “ceiling” of what medical engineering in the year 2016 can accomplish. It has become the standard or the foundation from which greater accomplishments can be made.
Dr. Samadi is not only an incredibly insightful and talented surgeon, he is genuine in both his thoughts and actions. Throughout our experience which had some challenges, Dr. Samadi was there and in touch with us every step of the way.
Upon arriving at Mount Sinai on the day of the surgery, the staff at the hospital treated me with a great deal of respect, and the admission process was quick and smooth. As the time of the operation drew near, I met with the anesthesiologist on your staff who made sure that I had prepared for the operation.
I have had full urinary control for the three weeks since the catheter was removed. I am now back to my regular activities, pain free, enjoying our grandchildren, working on the house, and enjoying life.
It was the beginning months of 2011 when I got the shocking news that I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Not only was it a challenging day for me full of fear and anxiety but on the same day my wife was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer. When I found out about my diagnosis and the option of removing the prostate and its benefits, I began the journey of searching for the best physician.
I have announced to my family and close friends that January 22 is my new "birthday". For it was on this date that I had my successful surgery with Dr. Samadi. Two months prior, I was diagnosed with a Gleason 6 score prostate cancer. For a relatively healthy 45-year old, it came as a shock but it was something I accepted. For a month, I did my research and met with several doctors in Toronto.
I had robotic prostate surgery at Mount Sinai on February 2nd of this year. I want to take a moment and tell you how pleased I am with the surgery and the attention given to me while I was at Mount Sinai. Prior to entering the hospital my family and I were attended to by Dr. Samadi and his team; their support was unbelievable.
I chose to undergo the operation with a specialist in the U.S., who has an extensive experience in robotic surgeries: Dr. David Smadi. The surgery was relatively simple: i didn't suffer any pain, lost a small amount of blood and had the catheter only for seven days. I got back to full functioning very soon afterwards.
PROSTATE CANCER! How could it be? I’m young and have had annual PSA tests to monitor my prostate cancer risk. I only recently began to experience sharp pain in my lower back but I knew I had to seek treatment.
Several weeks ago I found myself not waking from a nightmare but waking into one. This was after being diagnosed with cancer. My life was spiraling out of control and reaching the epitome of despair. In a true sense of the word, I was experiencing an existential crisis. At moments I even questioned whether my life was worth going forward. How could I get prostate cancer?
I would like to express how grateful I am that I went ahead with the robotic prostatectomy. I am completely satisfied with the results. Since, the pain and discomfort after surgery were less than I anticipated, I did not need to take the Percocet and instead relied on extra strength Tylenol. Furthermore, I never experienced any noticeable bladder spasms, so I did not need to take Detrol LA.
One of the hardest phone calls I made in my life was when I called my father to tell him he had prostate cancer. It was in May of 2006. We were both scared and anxious about the best way to treat it. Also, 9,000 miles separating us did not help the decision making process. As a former senior urology resident in my home country, I felt I needed to research all treatment options extensively.
Just over a year ago on December 22, 2008 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In the midst of receiving this traumatic news, I was forced to decide on treatment from a bewildering array of options, from “watch and wait”, to radiation, to high frequency ultrasound, to conventional surgery, to laparoscopic surgery. More than all that, the choice foreshadowed long waiting lines, crowded hospitals and...
No words could express my gratitude for this successful operation, in which I came out cured, relived without any pain. This robotic operation was a success because YOU were behind it. Dr Samadi you are Great. Because of you, I am a happy man today. I feel normal physically and morally. Mount Sinai should be proud to have a doctor like you. All my family and friends from UK join to thank you.
Shocked by the diagnosis, I started researching different types of prostate cancer treatments in the Internet. In the faraway Moscow I found your website http://www.roboticoncology-rus.com, saw your photo and almost immediately, on the subconscious level made my choice – only you, Dr. David Samadi, can save my life. My family and I never regret this decision.
I must commend you on your excellent staff and your nurses, which offers patients pre and post operative advice as well as much more information. Not all patients will qualify for robotic prostatectomy but, for those who do, I highly recommend them to seek your advice and approach surgery without fear as your expertise in this area is unparalleled.
The health care system in Scandinavia, where I live, is among the world’s finest. But at age 77, for treatment of my prostate cancer, I wanted the surgeon with the most experience and the highest success rate.
After 24 hours of my operation, I was discharged. After 7 days, I removed the catheter and, within 12 days, I returned to my country. On the same day I removed my catheter, I was able to walk for an hour. The incontinence diminishes more each day and, at this rate, I hope that in two or three weeks, it will be one hundred percent under control. Sexual function shows signs of full recovery without any drugs.

We could not believe we could get an appointment with you so quickly. We liked your answer very much. “No one touches my patients but me.” At that moment, we knew we had found our surgeon. We have never regretted that decision for a single moment. You and your staff have a level of knowledge, experience and professionalism that is unparalleled.
It was Dr. Samadi himself wanting to speak with both of us to find out exactly what we needed and how he could help us. Dr. Samadi was a true hero in this story. I love him for what he did and would recommend him to anyone who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
I learned I had prostrate cancer in late May 2010. I am 67 years old, diabetic, and had both TURP surgery and hernia surgery in the past. Being a Jehovah's Witness I was very concerned about the blood issue. Since conventional prostrate surgery is very bloody, it was not an option.
This is not a paid endorsement, even though it’s going to sound like one. This is just a true account of my experiences with the amazing Dr. David B. Samadi and his incredible staff in the time leading up to and following my recent robotic prostate removal surgery.
